It’s Sunday once again, and you know what that means — it’s time for our weekly social media roundup! In what has become an annual tradition, the weeks before the All-Star Break have been rather brutal for the Yankees. That said, the world doesn’t stop, and it was a busy week among Yankees alumni. What have they been up to? Let’s find out!
Luke Voit’s Return to Baseball
Since the Yankees acquired Anthony Rizzo during the 2021 season, Luke Voit’s baseball career has been an adventure. Briefly coexisting on the Yankees roster through the end of that year, Voit was traded to the San Diego Padres following the end of the 2021-2022 lockout. After Eric Hosmer invoked his no-trade clause, Voit then was sent to Washington as part of the first Juan Soto trade. Following brief stints in the Brewers and Mets organizations, he headed south of the border, playing in the Mexican League, before joining the Rakuten Golden Eagles — Masahiro Tanaka’s old team — this week.
Bernie’s Blend
This week marked the launch of this year’s Bernie’s Blend at Millbrook Winery. The launch party included a concert by the outfielder-turned-guitarist, a painting by his daughter Beatriz, and — of course — wine!
Return to the Backyard
Playground Productions this week announced the upcoming re-release of Backyard Baseball ‘01. One of the greatest sports videogames of all time, many Yankees were featured in the series back in the day and have agreed to return to the world of the Backyard. Carlos Beltrán, in fact, shared the game’s announcement of his stats to his Instagram page.
Other former Yankees that will be included are Jose Canseco, Jason Giambi, Derek Jeter, Randy Johnson, Kenny Lofton, Raul Mondesi, Alex Rodriguez, and Iván Rodríguez.
A CC June Photo Dump
Yankees Hall of Fame lefty CC Sabathia had a busy month of June, and as he is wont to do, he posted a summary of it on Instagram:
Happy Canada Day!
This year, the Yankees were in Toronto for Canada Day. Radio broadcaster Suzyn Waldman took to Instagram to celebrate the occasion.
