LOS ANGELES — The Dodgers forgettable weekend ended with a low-scoring affair on Sunday, managing one measly run in a 5-1 loss to the Astros, completing a three-game sweep at Dodger Stadium.

With both Teoscar Hernández and Tommy Edman sitting out the series finale while nursing injuries, and losing Max Muncy to a knee injury this week, the Dodgers’ lineup on Sunday had several players not used to regular playing time in the majors.

Backup catcher Dalton Rushing, who has started exactly one third of his games since getting called up in May, got two hits, and drove in the Dodgers’ only run with a double in the second inning.

Mookie Betts also had two hits, his second multi-hit game in a row. He and Rushing were on base with two outs in the eighth when Freddie Freeman lined a ball 103.7 mph to center field, but the Dodgers’ best chance to get back in the game died in the glove of a diving Taylor Trammell in center field.

Houston’s go-ahead rally in the sixth started with two quick outs against reliever Will Klein. A double by Mauricio Dubón was followed by a hit batter then an infield single up the third base line that loaded the bases. Klein got ahead 0-2 on Zack Short but lost an eight-pitch battle for the go-ahead walk.

Two home runs off Tanner Scott in the eighth inning — Christian Walker, naturally, then Yainer Diaz — turned a one-run deficit into three, even if it might have felt like a million at that point.

Jose Altuve added a solo home run in the ninth inning off Anthony Banda, capping a stellar weekend for the Houston star who heard the loudest boos all weekend, all while collecting six hits, including three home runs, a triple, a double, six runs scored and seven RBI.

Highlights

The paucity of runs, especially early, on Sunday made defense even more important, and a handful of strong plays were made by Dodgers infielders throughout the game. Hyeseong Kim made two great plays up the middle from second base in the first and second innings. Freddie Freeman made a great stretch and scoop on the latter through, then did so again on a nice play by Mookie Betts at shortstop in the seventh. Then Miguel Rojas ended the seventh with a sharp play on the line and throw from foul territory to first.

Notes

Emmet Sheehan struck out four in his five innings, with one run allowed and one walk in his return from Triple-A.
Walker has homered in seven of his last eight games at Dodger Stadium. He was limited to only an RBI single on Saturday, keeping his streak of now eight games here with an RBI active.
The Dodgers have little to show for their weekend against the Astros, and they don’t even have Little anymore either, as Jack was optioned to Triple-A earlier Sunday.
