The Los Angeles Dodgers’ lead in the National League West Division had grown to eight games at press time Wednesday.

The Dodgers scored four runs in the first inning, Shohei Ohtani hit home run No. 30 on the year and the Dodgers beat the Chicago White Sox 6-1 at Los Angeles Tuesday night.

Michael Conforto capped the four-run Dodgers first with a two-run single. The Ohtani blast was a solo shot in the fourth inning that traveled 408 feet to right center.

At press time, the Los Angeles Angels had pulled to .500 on the year (42-42) with a 4-0 win over the Atlanta Braves at Atlanta. Angels starter Tyler Anderson gave up four hits in his six innings pitched then three Angels pitchers worked an inning apiece, giving up one hit each, to put the wrap on the win.

At press time, the Angels and Dodgers were to resume their respective series Wednesday. The San Diego Padres were scheduled to play a doubleheader at Philadelphia in a make-up of a scheduled game that was postponed Tuesday.

The Angels and Braves, and White Sox and Dodgers will conclude their respective series Thursday.

In the most dramatic movement in the MLB standings, the Milwaukee Brewers had moved past the St. Louis Cardinals into second place in the NL Central. The Brewers trailed the Chicago Cubs by 2.5 games at press time.   Â
