The MLB draft is nearing and the Texas Rangers will be on the clock soon.

Texas has the No. 12 pick in the first round of the draft. The draft will take place in Atlanta and begins Sunday, July 13 at 5 p.m.

The Rangers have found solid major-league production in recent years with their first-round selections. Wyatt Langford (2023), Kumar Rocker (2022), Jack Leiter (2021) and Josh Jung (2019) have all played a significant role on this year’s roster.

Texas’ most recent first-rounder was catcher Malcolm Moore out of Stanford at No. 30 overall. He is currently playing for the High-A Hub City Spartanburgers.

Here‘s a roundup of talents linked to the Rangers in recent mock drafts:

Kayson Cunningham

Position: SS

School: Johnson (San Antonio) HS

The Athletic’s Keith Law: “Cunningham is near the top of Texas’ short list, although I’m not sure if the Rangers take him regardless of who’s here. I thought they’d be a fit for Jace LaViolette, not because he’s local but because he does some of the things their draft model seems to value; and I’ve heard them before with JoJo Parker.”

JoJo Parker

Position: SS

School: Purvis (Miss.) HS

CBS Sports’ Mike Axisa: “Pick a high school shortstop and the Rangers have been connected to him at some point this spring. Parker could go inside the top 10 somewhere, but he’s still available in our mock draft, so Texas makes sense. The Rangers have targeted high upside with their high draft picks under GM Chris Young, and although Parker may not have the loudest tools, he might be the best pure hitter in the draft. There is plenty of upside there.”

Ike Irish

Position: RF/C

School: Auburn

ESPN’s Jeff Passan: “The Rangers need fast-moving bats, and Irish is coming off the best offensive season of any draft-eligible college hitter. Whether he winds up at catcher, right field or first base remains up in the air, but for a Rangers team without a clear long-term solution at any of the three positions, he fits.”

Daniel Pierce

Position: SS

School: Mill Creek (Ga.) HS

MLB Pipeline’s Jim Callis: “The Rangers appear to be looking for offense, with leading contenders such as Irish, Parker, Pierce and prep third baseman Gavin Fien.”

Kyson Witherspoon

Position: RHP

School: Oklahoma

Baseball America’s Carlos Collazo: “The Rangers sound like either the floor or something very close to it for JoJo Parker. He’s mentioned here with the Rangers as much as any team, but he also has a few possible landing spots in front of them. Generally, I hear the Rangers connected with bats more than pitchers—names like Ike Irish, Billy Carlson, Steele Hall, Daniel Pierce, Marek Houston, Xavier Neyens or Gavin Kilen could all make sense—but Witherspoon’s impact upside might be too much to pass up if he gets outside of the top 10.”
