Sometimes, players hit home runs and the announcers talk about how badly that player needed it, how he needed to get one out due to a slump or an extended poor performance.
Bryson Stott was one of those guys that needed a home run.
Seeing himself delving further and further into a platoon role, Stott hasn’t really even done that well. Since June 1, he’s batted .171/.250/.237 against right handed pitching, good for a 38 wRC+ in that split. It’s why he’s lost regular playing time to Edmundo Sosa during that time, so hitting that home run had to feel good.
