Tyler Hardman hit a two-run home run as Somerset defeated the Reading Fightin Phils 4-2 on Sunday to complete a sweep of their three-game series.

Reading is 5-7 in the second half, 30-49 overall; Somerset improves to 7-5, 42-39.

The Patriots got the scoring going early on a fielder’s choice by Rafael Flores that scored George Lombard Jr., who had doubled, to make it 1-0 after one inning.

Reading tied it up in the top of the fourth after an RBI single by Hendry Mendez scored Jose Rodriguez, who had doubled.

In the bottom of the fourth, Brendan Jones singled and Hardman homered off of Travis Kuhn (L, 6-4), putting the Patriots up 3-1.

Reading got the game back within one in the top of the fifth with Carson DeMartini’s first Double-A home run, a solo shot that made it 3-2.

In the bottom of the eighth, Omar Martinez singled and Jones reached on a fielder’s choice as Martinez made it to second after a throwing error by Jose Rodriguez. Martinez stole third and then scored after a wild pitch from Andrew Bechtold to make it 4-2 Somerset.

Trystan Vrieling (1-2) got the win.

The Fightin Phils return to the field on Tuesday at 6:35 p.m. against the Chesapeake Baysox and starting pitchers have yet to be announced. A video stream is available via MiLB TV or the Bally Live App.
