The Greater Norristown American Legion Baseball League was scheduled to complete its regular season Monday and start the playoffs Tuesday. The playoffs are are a seven-team, double elimination bracket with the No. 1 seed getting a first-round bye.
Perk Valley entered Monday as the No. 1 seed – a half-game ahead of Fort Washington. Perk Valley needed to beat Roslyn to remain the top seed or the Raiders would fall to No. 2.
Roslyn was the No. 6 seed entering the regular season finale. A win would secure the sixth seed while a loss would like drop them below Whitemarsh.
No. 4 JP Mascaro and No. 5 Valley Forge were scheduled to play a double-header Monday. The two teams are locked into a first-round matchup in the playoffs, but Monday’s results determine who has homefield advantage as the No. 4 seed.
Mount Carmel is the only team locked into their spot ahead of Monday’s games. The Mounties will be the No. 3 seed in the playoffs.
Here is a look at each team heading into the playoffs.
Perk Valley
Perk Valley entered Monday with a 10-1 record. The Raiders opened the season with four straight wins and, after an 8-3 loss to Fort Washington, have won six straight. They avenged their loss against the Generals three days later with a 6-4 win.
Billy Tighe leads the offense with 13 hits and is hitting .448. Ryan Glauner and Dean Hollenbach are both batting over .400 while Mike Strechay, Andrew Keenan, Kyle Cohen, Chris Allen and Marco Cordero-Limon are all batting over .300.
PV has five pitchers that have thrown five or more innings and they all have ERAs at 2.44 or better. Ryan McMenamin has seen the most work, throwing 15 innings. Eddie Feinerg’s thrown 14 1/3 while Nick Cress is at 11 2/3, Strechay 9 1/3 and Hollenbach five. Strechay has 18 strikeouts against two walks and three hits.

Fort Washington
The Generals completed the regular season with a 10-2 record. The defending champions started their season June 17 – 16 days after league play began due to most of their players going on a state championship run with Upper Dublin High School. They enter the playoffs on a six-game winning streak.
Eric Berman leads the offense with 14 hits and is batting .483. Ryan McGuckin has 10 hits and a .323 average while Matt Sokel and Noah Gibbs are both batting well over .300.
Sokel leads the pitching staff with 21 innings. He’s allowed one earned run for a 0.33 ERA and has 24 strikeouts to three walks with 12 hits allowed. Tom Puerzer has thrown 14 innings, Nolan Carter 10 1/3 and Eddie Joyce nine.
Mount Carmel
Mount Carmel is locked into the third seed with a 7-5 record. The Mounties started the season 7-1 before dropping their final four games – two against Perk Valley and two against Fort Washington.
Johnangelo Salamone leads Mount Carmel with 10 hits and a .345 average. Joey Monastero, Matt Leary and Michael Bongard are all batting .300 or better.
Leary leads the pitching staff with 24 2/3 innings across four starts and an additional appearance. He allowed one earned run for a 0.28 ERA. He’s 2-1 with three complete games. The right-hander struck out 17 batters to eight walks and allowed 18 hits.
JP Mascaro
JP Mascaro was 4-6 entering Monday’s doubleheader with Valley Forge. JP Mascaro was the fourth seed by the runs against tiebreaker, leading Valley Forge, 45-46.
Carmine Maro paces the Haulers offense with 13 hits for a .565 average. Tommy Kratz totaled four hits across three games for a .667 average.

Jack Bradford threw 16 innings across two starts and an additional appearance. He posted a 2.19 ERA, allowing five earned runs on 16 hits. He struck out five batters to seven walks.
Valley Forge
Valley Forge was 4-6 entering Monday’s doubleheader with JP Mascaro. Valley Forge was the fifth seed by the runs against tiebreaker, trailing JP Mascaro, 46-45.
Nicholas Varano, David Peck, Teddy Walmsley III and John Tomsho each had six hits this season. Tomsho batted .545 across the three games he played.
Nathan Gordon threw 16 innings across three starts. He allowed four runs on 11 hits for a 1.75 ERA. He struck out five batters to seven walks. Max DiSanto threw 13 innings, Peck 10 and Cole Wellington nine.
Roslyn
Roslyn was 2-9 entering Monday’s finale against Perky Valley. The two wins came against Valley Forge on June 17 and Whitemarsh on June 30.
Eric Engler and Gavin Grasso each had seven hits for Roslyn. Bradley Horsnall and Liam Galpin each had six. Galpin batted .545.
Chase Wolf leads Roslyn’s pitching staff with nine innings. He’s allowed six hits and two runs for a 1.56 ERA. He struck out nine batters to four walks.
Whitemarsh
The Patriots finished the regular season with a 2-10 record. They started and ended the season with five-game losing streaks surrounding back-to-back wins on June 22 and June 24.
Brandon Saccone led Whitemarsh with eight hits. Dom Criscuolo and Matt Scopinich each had six hits. Patrick Buckley had four hits for an .800 batting average, but only appeared in two games.
Owen Pizzi led the pitching staff with 10 innings pitched. Jake Rauscher and Criscuolo recorded the two wins on the mound. Criscuolo threw five shutout innings and surrendered just two hits.
