The Los Angeles Dodgers lost to the Milwaukee Brewers, 9-1, after an uncharacteristically poor performance from Yoshinobu Yamamoto. The ace lasted just two-thirds of an inning as L.A. fell to 56-36 on the year.
Ahead of the eventual defeat in the series opener, L.A. made a major roster move. A surprise right-hander was called up and logged his first MLB innings since 2021.
The roster moves didn’t stop there as utility star Kiké Hernández was placed on the injured list. The 28-year-old outfielder James Outman was called up in a corresponding move, and in addition to his improved production in Triple-A, he had a new accessory that he was rocking on Monday night.
Outman has started wearing glasses while he plays, taking a note from what Max Muncy started doing this season and what Hernández started doing in 2024. The glasses drastically improved both of their offensive outputs upon trying out the frames as Outman hopes to get the same kind of results.
