Bryan Armetta offers up a preview, prediction and pick for Tuesday’s game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Milwaukee Brewers.

Monday’s 9-1 loss was a disaster for the Dodgers. All-Star Yoshinobu Yamamoto got lit up, allowing five runs in the first inning against the Brewers. Tonight, Los Angeles will attempt to bounce back with franchise legend Clayton Kershaw on the mound. However, that won’t be easy against a red-hot Milwaukee lineup. Which of these two playoff-caliber clubs will come out on top tonight? Below, I’ve laid out my preview, prediction, and best bet for Tuesday’s battle between the Dodgers and Brewers.

The Dodgers are favorites (-122) over the Brewers, with the over/under set at 8.5 runs. Let’s break down which side has the edge on DraftKings Sportsbook entering tonight’s matchup.

Dodgers at Brewers prediction, preview

It was quite the week for Clayton Kershaw. The three-time Cy Young winner became just the 20th member of the 3,000 strikeout club, notching five K’s vs. the White Sox. Despite all the accolades, Los Angeles’ longtime ace is not the same pitcher he once was. However, he’s still a solid piece in this Dodgers rotation. Through 44.2 innings of work, Kershaw has notched a 3.43 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 32 strikeouts. The southpaw has allowed two runs or less in seven of his nine starts this season.

Tonight’s matchup might be Kershaw’s toughest test yet. Since June 20th, the Brewers have scored 102 runs, more than any other team in baseball during that time. During that time, the team has notched a league-best .320 batting average against left-handed pitchers. Seven different hitters in Milwaukee’s lineup have recorded a wRC+ of 100 or greater. That includes franchise cornerstone Christian Yelich (121); the outfielder has an .861 OPS over 32 career at-bats vs. Kershaw.

For the Brew Crew, rookie sensation Jacob Misiorowski will take the hill. It’s only been four starts, but the 23-year-old is already taking the National League by storm. During that time, the righty has posted a 3.20 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 21 strikeouts. Still, he did cough up five runs in just 3.2 innings last week against the Mets. Things won’t get much easier against Los Angeles, baseball’s second-highest scoring offense. However, the Dodgers have scored 39 runs over their last ten games, the league’s ninth-lowest mark during that time.

Dodgers at Brewers pick, best bet

Best Bet: Brewers ML (+100)

It’s never easy to fade the defending champs, still baseball’s team to beat. With that being said, the Dodgers come into Tuesday having dropped four straight games. A date against the flame-throwing Misiorowski doesn’t bode well for Los Angeles’ chances of turning things around tonight.
