MLB:
San Francisco beat the Phillies 3-1 last night. The Giants scored first in the second. The Phillies tied it in the fifth. But the Giants scored two more in the eighth. Casey Schmitt got a key hit. The bullpen held strong. Tyler Rogers got the win. Camilo Doval sealed the game, his 14th save. The win gets them to 50 and 42, six games back in their division. The Giants play the Phillies again tonight. Game starts at 6:45
The Mariners are on a crucial road trip, starting in New York for a three-game series against the Yankees. Seattle comes in at 48 and 42, second in the AL West, 6.5 games behind the division leader. Logan Gilbert takes the mound against the Yankees who are in second place in the East. Game one First pitch is 4:05 our time.
BLAZERS:
The Portland Trail Blazers are trading guard Anfernee Simons for two-time All-Star guard Jrue Holiday from the Boston Celtics. Holiday has been selected six times for the NBA All-Defensive Team. He was a key player in the Celtics 2024 NBA Championship. Simons has played seven seasons in Portland and averages 15 points a game. Holiday will wear number five for Portland.
MLS:
The Sounders and Timbers both have games this weekend. Seattle will travel to play Sporting Kansas City on Saturday. Portland takes on St. Louis CITY SC Sunday in the Gateway City.
