The 15U B Pierrefonds Red Sox took a 10-5 decision over the West Island Guardians at Brook Park in Lac St. Louis Baseball action. It was a high scoring contest with a low hit profile as the Guardians were held to a pair of singles in their four-run third and the Red Sox managed three hits, all for extra-bases. Two were triples by Thomas Plamondon and Kosta Kalantzis the other was a double off the bat of Hugo Plamondon. Both sides took advantage of miscues, free passes and steals to put runs on the board.
The Sox finished strong on the mound in the final two innings recording six outs on six Guardians. Benjamin Rousseau and Julian Anghel silenced the West Island bats in the fourth and fifth innings. Finley Marchand shut down the Sox in what would be their final at-bats in the bottom of the fourth. Marchand handcuffed the Pierrefonds’ batters with a three-up-three-down inning on the bump, that included a pair of strikeouts.
The Guardians were first on the board with one run in the opening inning as Tristan Palazzo reached home. Pierrefonds replied with a trio of runs in the home half of the first to claim a lead they would not relinquish. In the bottom of the second the Sox extended their lead to 7-3 as Matthew Sirocco, Kalantzis, Éric Xue and Thomas Plamondon worked their way around the basepaths.
West Island chipped away in the top of the third for four runs, putting the Guardians within two of the Red Sox. Marchand scored the first of four with a steal of home, Luca De Stefano, Cameron Nolan and Ivan Kholodar accounted for the other three runs.
Pierrefonds pulled away in the bottom of the third, scoring three times in their at-bats. Liam Leithman, Edouard Poulin and Jonathan Arreaga accounted for the Sox’s final three-runs of the game. n
