Minnesota gave the Miami Marlins multiple prospects, as well as the reigning American League batting champion, in exchange for Pablo Lopez.

Since making his first appearance for the Twins in March of 2023, Lopez has been nothing but reliable, achieving his first All-Star bid in 2023 while having a 200-strikeout season and a 15-win season in 2024.

However, 2025 has been a tough year for Lopez, as he found himself on the 60-day injured list on June 11 after suffering a Grade 2 strain of the teres major in his throwing arm during a start against the Athletics on June 3.

The All-Star pitcher is expected to miss at least another month of action, but the Twins received fortunate news on Lopez in recent days.

According to SKOR North, “Pablo Lopez has begun throwing for the first time since suffering a teres major strain on June 3.”

This is a positive update on the Twins pitcher as the team attempts to stay relevant in the American League Wild Card race.

Before Lopez went down with the injury, he was on pace for another All-Star season, posting a 5-3 record, 2.82 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, while striking out 61 batters in 60.2 innings.

The Twins will be monitoring Lopez in the coming months while struggling to keep pitchers healthy as the season inches towards the All-Star break next week.

Fellow Twins starters Bailey Ober and Zebby Matthews are also on the injured list.
