On the final day of the Dodgers’ series against the Brewers at American Family Field in Milwaukee, the two teams made a trade. Switch-hitting outfielder Steward Berroa was sent to the Brewers on Wednesday for cash considerations.
Berroa was designated for assignment by the Dodgers last Thursday when corner man CJ Alexander was claimed off waivers from the Yankees. Alexander has since been designated for assignment as well, on Monday when reliever Julian Fernández was called up from Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Milwaukee is Berroa’s third organization this season, after starting the season with the Blue Jays, who traded him to the Dodgers for cash considerations on May 12.
The 26-year-old outfielder made his major league debut with Toronto last season, appearing in 28 games mostly as a reserve. He was 7-for-37 with a double and eight walks, hitting .189/.333/.216 with six stolen bases.
Berroa hasn’t played in the majors this season, but hit a combined .270/.358/.345 in Triple-A between the International League and Pacific League. That included hitting .330/.424/.433 with a 126 wRC+ in 27 games for Oklahoma City, with seven doubles, a home run, and 11 steals in 14 tries.
