DETROIT — Tomas Nido will be behind the plate for the Detroit Tigers on Saturday night.
The Tigers (26-13) and Texas Rangers (18-21) meet at 6:10 p.m at Comerica Park.
Catcher Dillon Dingler; infielder Andy Ibanez; and infielder/outfielders Javier Baez and Justyn-Henry Malloy will be available off the bench. The full lineup is below.
Tigers right-hander Jack Flaherty (1-4, 3.79 ERA) will face Rangers righty Jacob deGrom (2-1, 2.61).
Flaherty has allowed four earned runs in each of his last two starts. This season, he has a 2.08 ERA through the first five innings, but has been tagged for eight earned runs (21.60 ERA) in the sixth.
When his back-to-back Cy Young seasons in 2018 and 2019 for the New York Mets might seem far away, deGrom is still one of the best pitchers in baseball when healthy.
He’s made only 16 starts over three seasons with the Rangers since signing a five-year, $185 million contract before the 2023 season.
