CHICAGO — Thursday’s series opener between the Guardians and White Sox at Rate Field has been rained out. It will be rescheduled as a day-night doubleheader on Friday.

The postponed game is scheduled to start at 3:10 p.m. The regularly scheduled game is scheduled for 8:10 p.m.

The Guardians will start left-hander Logan Allen in the first game and Gavin Williams in the second.

The Guardians are coming off a three-game sweep of the AL West-leading Astros. The White Sox prevented a three-game sweep at the hands of AL East-leading Toronto with a 2-1 win on Wednesday.

The Guardians are 3-6 in July and trying to recover from a 10-game losing streak that saw them get shut out five times. The White Sox have lost twice as many games as they’ve won at 31-62.

Cleveland has split a pair of doubleheader this year.
