Audra Martin is very glad she is “kinda squishy” in the midsection after she got hit in the stomach with a foul ball. The Minnesota Twins reporter recently unveiled the nasty bruise.

It is going to take more than a week to fully heal!

Martin joined the Fox Sports North broadcast team in October 2015 as a sideline reporter and studio host for the regional sports network focused on the Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Wild. Although the network itself has changed hands over the last decade, to Bally Sports and now FanDuel, its MLB broadcast team remains (mostly) in tact. These people become a big part of your life when the team they cover plays 162 games!

I first stepped onto the diamond at 7yrs old, took my 1st MLB front office job at 22,covered my 1st minor league team as a broadcaster at 27, got my 1st big league broadcasting job at 30 &covered my first MLB Playoffs at 38. Baseball is a journey I wouldn’t change for the world❤️ pic.twitter.com/MEWUm0Gkkg

All of this goes to say that Audra Martin is a veteran in her profession but even she experienced a “first” earlier this month. A line drive foul ball hit her right in the stomach. Ouch!

Minnesota Twins reporter Audra Martin couldn’t get out of the way.

There have been a few close calls in the past. Martin blocked a foul ball with her notebook back in 2017.

She often stands right on the end of the dugout and leaves herself exposed to the elements. And by elements, I mean flying objects like broken bats or foul balls. For example, her was her point of view at a recent game:

Harrison Bader!! Tie game thanks to a huge Bader Tater and boyyyy was he fired up!!! pic.twitter.com/YUrhVH5Rfh

I do not know where exactly Audra Martin was standing when a foul ball was lined in her direction last week. Nor have I seen the corresponding video. However, it must’ve been a direct hit!

Martin recently shared a pair of photos from the aftermath. The foul ball made contact with her stomach right above her right hip, below her ribs, to the right of her belly button. It left a huge bruise on her side.

The damage could’ve been a lot worse. Not only did the ball avoid contact with her hip or her ribs, she joked about her built-in cushioning.

Thankfully I’m kinda squishy in the midsection… That’s probably the only time I’ve ever said that!😂😂😂

A large bruise typically takes anywhere between two and four weeks to fully disappear. Based on the five-day timeline, this one in particular is going to take closer to a month!
