A Clay County commissioner says the county has received a “term sheet” from the Kansas City Royals outlining their vision for a potential stadium deal in North Kansas City.Western Commissioner At-Large Jason Withington said late Thursday night that the county received the communication from the Royals before the Independence Day holiday.“Just before the July 4th holiday, Clay County, Missouri Government received a term sheet from the team outlining their vision for a potential deal at the (North Kansas City) site,” he shared on social media.Withington added that there’s “still plenty of work ahead as we move forward in negotiations.”The update comes just days after the State of Kansas approved an extension of the STAR Bonds deadline for both the Royals and the Chiefs.During its most recent session, the Missouri General Assembly passed an amendment allowing Clay County to establish a sports authority, considered a key step in advancing any major stadium development.The Royals are also considering a site in Kansas City for a downtown stadium.
