On Wednesday, the Roswell Invaders hosted the Tucson Saguaros for game three of a three-game series.
The Invaders entered this game with a 6-30 record, and the Saguaros entered with a 28-8-1 record. In the first two games of this series, the Saguaros won both matchups with tallies of 22-3 and 9-3.
In game three, the game started with great defense, with both teams only scoring one run each in the first four innings. After that, the Saguaros took over. Their offense would score a run in every inning, while also holding the Invaders to no runs for the rest of the game. Because of this, the Saguaros would win the game with a tally of 13-1 and go on to win the series, taking all three games. The Invaders would fall to 6-31, while the Saguaros jumped to 29-8-1.
The Invaders had four hits in total, with four of their players each getting one and were walked five times. On defense, they committed only one error. Phillip Sanders (24) was the Invaders starting pitcher, and he pitched 7.0 innings, struck out eight batters, walked one and allowed 11 hits and six runs. Connor Wilt (9) and Davis Benton (32) combined to finish the game on the mound, with Sanders (24) being the losing pitcher.
The Saguaros had 14 total hits and were walked five times. Gavy Perez-Torres (44) led the team in hits with four, with one of those hits also being a home run. Mike Limoncelli (46) was the Saguaros’ starting pitcher, and he pitched 7.0 innings, struck out three batters, walked five and allowed three hits and one run. Carson McKenna (11) finished the game, while Limoncelli (46) was the winning pitcher.
