The Rockies and Red Sox have played each other 21 times in the regular season since they first took the field together in 2002. The Red Sox hold the upper hand at 17-14. In the nine series they’ve faced off before 2025, neither team has recorded a sweep of the other (not including Boston’s World Series sweep in 2007).

The Rockies (21-71) will try to keep that streak alive as they fend off a sweep by Boston (48-45) today in their series finale at Fenway Park.

Antonio Senzatela (3-12, 6.57 ERA) will be on the mound for Colorado. Senzatela has been better in his last six starts since June 6. He’s gone 2-2 with a 5.40 ERA, while the Rockies have gone 3-3 during the stretch.

Lucas Giolito (5-1, 3.66 ERA) will get the start for the Red Sox. The former White Sox and 2019 All-Star had Tommy John surgery in March of 2024. He missed the entire 2024 season before making his first start back, after a hamstring injury as well, on April 30 this season. In 12 starts, Giolito has posted six quality starts with 58 strikeouts. He’s won both of his last outings in victories over Toronto and Washington, holding the teams to two runs in 14 2⁄3 innings. In his career against the Rockies, Giolito is 0-1 in two starts, giving up seven runs in 10 innings of work.

Colorado’s Tyler Freeman, who will be DH and leading off, enters the game riding a 21-game on-base streak, but the Rockies have been outscored 19-5 in the first two games in Boston and outhit 25-12.
