CINCINNATI —

The 2025 Major League Baseball Draft is this weekend, and several Cincinnati products are hoping to hear their names called.

That includes Cincinnati Bearcats star Landyn Vidourek, a Badin High School product who spent his last three seasons at UC.

For Vidourek, being a Bearcat was always the plan.

“I love this place. (I’ve) been a Bearcat fan my whole life. My great grandpa played baseball here, played with Sandy Koufax,” Vidourek said.

Paul Huesman suited up for Cincinnati from 1956 to 1959. Six decades and three generations later, Landyn carries on the family legacy.

“Part of the reason I wear 14, he was number 14 while he played here,” Vidourek said.

Family plays a big part in Vidourek’s baseball career. With his father mostly out of the picture, Landyn’s uncle, Patrick Foster, who also played collegiate baseball, became his coach.

“Great coach on and off the field. He helped me become a better person overall,” Vidourek said about Foster.

That coaching led Landyn to a standout career at Badin before three impressive seasons at UC.

Vidourek earned All-Big 12 honors after batting .304 with a team-high 14 home runs. Now, he’s hoping to hear his name called in the MLB Draft.

“It’s every little kid’s dream who plays baseball to make it there,” Vidourek said.

Vidourek is projected to be a second day selection, and a great addition to whichever club takes him.

“It’s obviously my dream growing up as a kid playing baseball. Just being able to share that moment with your family and my uncle especially,” Vidourek said.
