PELLA — The Pella Lady Dutch were three outs away from posting a 5-0 win over the Newton Cardinals Thursday on their home diamond when lightning was spotted. Game suspended. After watching a stubborn lightning display for nearly two hours the game was finally resumed.

Pella’s Emma Eekhoff, who had been dominant for six innings still had it, as she went back to the circle to put the finishing touches on a classy pitching gem. Eekhoff used only 12 pitches to set the Cardinals down with a strikeout, a groundout and a popup. Game over, and the Dutch had beaten the Cardinals for a fourth time this season.
