Shohei Ohtani splashed his 32nd home run of the 2025 season into San Francisco’s McCovey Cove, but the Dodgers’ comeback ultimately fell short in the 8-7 loss Friday night against the rival Giants (52-43). Dustin May allowed seven earned runs and walked four with two home runs allowed against San Francisco’s lineup in L.A.’s seventh straight loss. It’s the longest losing streak since 2017 for the Dodgers (56-39).

Willy Adames smoked a May sinker for a solo home run with one out in the bottom of the second to put the Giants on the board first.

Hyeseong Kim led off the third with a single. His athleticism and speed has really been on full display of late when given the opportunity to play. Kim stole second, his tenth bag swiped in as many attempts. Kim had a three-hit night for the Dodgers, and he continues to impress.

The first pitch Webb offered to Ohtani was a cutter which the slugger promptly crushed for a two-run splash home run into McCovey Cove to give the Dodgers a 2-1 lead.

He took All-Star Webb’s cutter 410 feet to right field with a 106 mph exit velocity. One of the kayakers floating in the cove dove in to retrieve the piece of treasure from the cold waters.

The rare feat was the first by a Dodger since Max Muncy’s iconic ‘Go Get It Out of the Ocean’ splash hit in 2021.

The Giants took the lead right back in the fourth. May, not as sharp as he usually is, walked Rafael Devers and Matt Chapman to start the inning. The walks proved costly when Jung Hoo Lee tripled in two runs to make it 3-2.

Michael Conforto threw a bullet from left field for his fourth outfield assist of the year to get Lee at home plate. The Giants challenged the close call, but the throw was too perfect to overturn.

Dominic Smith widened the San Francisco lead with a solo home run against May in the fifth.

May continued to struggle and allowed a Patrick Bailey single and two walks after the home run to load the bases before the first out of the inning was recorded. Matt Chapman knocked in a run on a force out, and that finally forced Dave Roberts to take May out of the game.

Willy Adames tripled against Anthony Banda to bring in another two runs for ‘Frisco. The Giants brought 10 men to the plate and scored five runs in the fifth to make it 8-2.

The Dodgers got four runs back against Webb in the top of the sixth. They cashed in a Mookie Betts HBP with back-to-back doubles from Smith and Teoscar Hernández to make it 8-4.

Michael Conforto chased Webb from the game with a two-run home run to center field.

The Dodgers pulled within one run in the seventh thanks to a Betts double, a Lee error in right field, and a Smith RBI single.

In the top of the ninth, the Dodgers got the tying run to second with one out. Smith, who had two hits on the ninth, grounded into a double play to end the game and continue the losing skid.
