College baseball coach who recently lost a player to the Vols fires back at accusation from Tennessee Tony Vitello originally appeared on A to Z Sports.
Tennessee Vols head coach Tony Vitello added some spiciness to the college baseball offseason this week.

On Wednesday, Vitello appeared on WNML’s SportsTalk and he suggested that an unnamed program in the SEC is making “undercover offers” to players on Tennessee’s roster.
“There’s one school in our league that likes to make undercover offers to guys, and our two or three guys that were on the end of that have stayed strong,” said Vitello. “I think, in general, there are extra conversations these days. However you want to frame them. I don’t think that’s really been an issue for us.”
Bowling Green State assistant head coach Matt Rembielak saw Vitello’s comments and offered a sharp response, tweeting the famous Spiderman meme –presumably to insinuate that Tennessee is guilty of the same actions.

Rembielak’s tweet is particularly interesting because Tennessee recently landed Bowling Green two-way star DJ Newman as a transfer addition.

College sports are a cutthroat world these days thanks to backroom NIL deals and behind-the-scenes transfer pitches. Everyone is trying to gain an edge. Whether Vitello and his staff are involved in any of those shenanigans is unclear, but I don’t think anyone in the sport is above it right now.
