MLB All-Star 4.4 Miler to honor Hank Aaron, raise money for charity

  • July 12, 2025

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – All-Star Week isn’t just about the All-Star Game — a slate of other events are also prepared for fans, including the MLB All-Star 4.4 Miler!

Created in collaboration with the Atlanta Track Club and runningnerds, an Atlanta-based race production company, the 4.4-mile race winds through the historic Summerhill neighborhood.

The distance is a nod to Atlanta Braves legend and Hall of Famer Hank Aaron, whose jersey number was 44.

“Hank Aaron is one of the most important figures in Atlanta history, and we are honored to celebrate him with the MLB All-Star 4.4 Miler,” Atlanta Track Club CEO Rich Kenah said. “This race is a perfect fusion of Atlanta’s rich baseball heritage and its vibrant running community, offering participants an opportunity to engage with the excitement of All-Star Week while paying homage to one of baseball’s greatest legends.”

The race starts at the Center Parc Stadium and loops around Grant Park before returning to the stadium. Then called Turner Field, the site used to be the Braves’ home stadium, where Aaron completed his record-breaking 715th home run in 1974.

FULL RACE ROUTE:

Registration is $44. It includes a T-shirt and a medal, plus access to two other events: the HBCU Swingman Classic on Friday at Truist Park and the Capital One All-Star Village, the MLB’s fan festival at the Cobb Galleria Centre, which runs from Sunday through Tuesday.

The race is on Sunday, July 13, at 7:30 a.m. Registration closes on Saturday.

Early number pickup is on Friday from 12-6 p.m. outside Truist Park.

Proceeds from the race will benefit the Hank Aaron Chasing the Dream Foundation and the Henry Louis Aaron Fund, which support college scholarships and other grants for disadvantaged youth and minority participation in baseball, respectively.
