RAY COUNTY, Mo – A criminal hearing is scheduled for Tuesday for a Carrollton man accused of stealing baseball cards in Ray County.
According to the probable cause statement, Lawson Police opened an investigation at the beginning of the year after they were contacted by a man who claimed his roommate, 41-year-old Lewis Albert “Buddy” Thomas, had stolen multiple sets of baseball cards from his vast collection.
He forced Thomas to move out of the residence in January after discovering there were cards missing and previously seeing him take some cards. The victim further discovered his cards showing up at baseball card stores in Gladstone, Overland Park, Kansas and Leawood, Kansas. He was able to confirm with the store owners that Thomas had sold the cards to them.
The investigation indicated that 94 cards were stolen, valued at $22,165. Thomas is charged with one count of stealing in Ray County. His criminal hearing is scheduled for Tuesday at 9:30 am.
