BOWIE, Md. – The Fightin Phils won the opening game of a doubleheader split against Chesapeake on Saturday at Prince George’s Stadium.

Jean Cabrera pitched six solid innings and Caleb Ricketts and Paul McIntosh each had a pair of hits and an RBI as Reading won the opener 3-2.

The Baysox slugged four home runs – including a pair by Max Wagner – to win the nightcap 8-3. Hendry Mendez went 3-for-4 and had a two-run home run for Reading.

The Fightin Phils will attempt to earn a split of the six-game series on Sunday.
