Chicago Cubs pitcher Matthew Boyd will not participate in Tuesday’s MLB All-Star Game, and his replacement ruffled some feathers online.

Boyd, selected to the All-Star Game for the first time in his career, is scheduled to pitch Saturday for the Cubs against the New York Yankees, but he won’t be taking the mound in Atlanta on Tuesday, MLB announced on Friday night.

Instead, Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Jacob Misiorowski has been added to the National League roster for the game, and the decision was quickly met with a mix of shock and criticism.

That’s because Misiorowski, a second-round pick of the Brewers in the 2022 MLB Draft, has pitched a total of five MLB games, posting a 4-1 record and a 2.81 ERA in five starts with the Brewers this season.

His first two starts took the league by storm, as he allowed just one hit and two earned runs in 11 innings against the Cardinals and Twins, but his inclusion in the All-Star Game was indeed a surprise, as he now holds the distinction of getting into the game with the least experience of any player in MLB history.

Misiorowski’s inclusion in the game is rubbing some players the wrong way, including Trea Turner, Sanchez’s teammate with the Phillies, who lobbied on behalf of teammates like Cristopher Sanchez to get into the game instead.

“It’s not the All-Star Game in the sense the best players go there, or people who have had the best season,” he told The Athletic. “It’s whoever sells the most tickets or has been put on social media the most.”

Baseball writers also questioned the decision, while others argued that the game is an exhibition and should be focused on having the most exciting players in the game participating.

Fans had similarly mixed reactions.

I mean… what are we doing here?

Jacob Misiorowski is a ton of fun. He’ll probably be a perennial All-Star in the future

But picking over so many deserving pitchers when he has *5* big league outings under his belt is a joke https://t.co/6PJuF8Fl7B

I understand the outrage from some who would rather see a guy who has more starts.

But Misiorowski has a historic start and has been outstanding. So I get it.

MLB is better off showcasing a young talent like Jacob than just another pitcher.
