With the 74th overall pick in the Competitive Balance ‘B’ round of the 2025 MLB Draft, the Colorado Rockies have selected outfielder Max Belyeu from the University of Texas.

A teammate of Rockies top prospect and 2024 42nd overall pick Jared Thomas (no. 14 PuRP), Belyeu is a power-hitting lefty right fielder with plus hit and power tools in his arsenal.

He has quick hands and a quick swing that allows him to hit the ball with authority and spread the ball to all parts of the field. Belyeu also has decent speed and a strong, accurate throwing arm.

Belyeu lost playing time in 2025 due to a thumb fracture that required surgery, but he hit .303/.410/.576 with nine home runs and 29 RBIs in 2025 with the Longhorns and finished his collegiate career with a .318/.414/.616 and 27 total home runs.

MLB Network’s Dan O’Dowd described Belyeu as a “plus right fielder with a plus arm and a field to hit with power. A stud athlete with power at all ballparks… and a rocket for an arm.”

Belyeu is part of a very strong 2025 draft the Rockies are having so far.
