Florida State LHP Jamie Arnold has been selected by the Athletics with the 11th pick in first round of the MLB Draft on Sunday, the highest selection of the Link Jarrett era. Arnold’s selection has a $5,985,100 slot value.
Arnold transformed himself from an inconsistent reliever to a Friday-night Ace in the three years he spent in Tallahassee. After an up-and-down freshman campaign, the lefty was named First-Team All-ACC and a First-Team All-American by four of the top five major college baseball publications in his sophomore season. Then, the Tampa native lived up to expectations in his junior year, posting an identical ERA in 2025 as he did in 2024 (2.98) while being named First-Team All-ACC and becoming a consensus All-American. The ultimate competitor, Arnold, elevated his game in the postseason this year, going 13.2 combined innings in the Regional and Super Regional with 22 strikeouts and four earned runs while earning the win in both starts.
Arnold is the first Seminole pitcher drafted in the first round since Luke Weaver in 2014, who was taken with the 27th pick by the St. Louis Cardinals.
