ROCHESTER — The Rochester A’s continue to play well as they gear up for the American Legion baseball postseason, which begins in less than a week.

The A’s kept rolling on Sunday, beating visiting Kasson 7-1.

Rochester scored five runs in the bottom of the first and never trailed en route to the win.

The A’s also received a strong outing on the mound from the duo of Aidan Neshem and Jack Esau. Neshem started, going four innings and allowing just two hits and no runs. He struck out six batters and walked just one. Esau pitched the final three innings, allowing one unearned run on five hits, with two walks and one strikeout.

Cade Goergen went 2-for-4 with a double, and RBI and a run scored, and Adam Rice was 2-for-3 with a run scored. Maddox Milene also had an RBI, a run scored and two stolen bases for the A’s; Evan Langer had an RBI, a stolen base and two runs scored; and Andrew Kinneberg drove in two runs.

The A’s close the regular season with three games this week — a doubleheader at Holmen (Wis.) on Tuesday and a home game against Owatonna at 5 p.m. Thursday.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of “staff.” Often, the “staff” byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
