MYRTLE, Miss. (WTVA) — The Washington Nationals drafted East Union pitcher Landon Harmon on Sunday.

The club used the 80th pick to select the right-hander.

Harmon said he interviewed with the Nationals before the draft, and spoke with the team during the draft.

“So like first call, the very first call I got, was the Nationals calling,” he said Sunday night. “I was kind of just playing the waiting game, you know, just waiting it out. So I was getting a little bit nervous there, but, you know, it all worked out.”

MLB.com values his draft slot at $1.01 million.

Harmon committed to Mississippi State University, but most high school prospects drafted in the first few rounds forgo college and instead turn pro.
