It was a remarkable night for the state of Oklahoma, with three picks in the first round of the Major League Baseball draft.
PICK OF THE 2025 MLB DRAFT, THE WASHINGTON NATIONALS SELECT ELI WILLITS, A SHORTSTOP FROM FORT COBB BROXTON HIGH SCHOOL IN FORT COBB, OKLAHOMA. HOW COOL IS THAT? ELI WILLITS FROM FORT COBB, OKLAHOMA, FORT COBB BROXTON HIGH SCHOOL. THE NUMBER ONE PICK IN THE BASEBALL DRAFT. ON HIS WAY TO THE WASHINGTON NATIONALS TONIGHT. BUT I WANT TO TALK ABOUT ELI WILLITS, WHO WAS COMMITTED TO PLAY COLLEGE BASEBALL FOR THE UNIVERSITY OF OKLAHOMA. HIS DAD PLAYED THERE. HIS DAD WAS AN ASSISTANT COACH THERE, AND HE WAS EXPECTED TO BE A HIGH PICK. I DON’T KNOW, SOMEWHERE IN THE 3 TO 5 RANGE. KIND OF THE PROJECTIONS. YOU KNOW, THE DRAFT IS IT’S A IT’S A DIFFICULT THING. AND WHATEVER HAPPENS WITH THAT WOULD BE AWESOME. BUT I JUST THINK TRYING TO BE THE BEST VERSION OF ME IS ALL I CAN DO. AND IF THAT HAPPENS, I MEAN, I DREAM ABOUT IT A LOT, YOU KNOW, JUST THINKING LIKE, WOW, THAT’D BE REALLY SPECIAL IN THAT DAY TO BE THE FIRST BROTHERS TO EVER GO ONE ON ONE. BUT IF NOT, YOU KNOW, GOD’S PLAN, GOD’S PLAN. AND THEY DID NOT GO ONE ON ONE. BUT THIS IS COOL BECAUSE THAT RIGHT THERE IS ETHAN HOLLIDAY WAS JUST A LITTLE FELLA.
