In a piece from Bob Nightengale of USA Today, according to MLB general managers, among the top prospects in baseball, Cubs’ top prospect Owen Caissie is one of the most likely prospects to be traded.
Amid such rumors, and in Nightengale’s article, Caissie shared his reaction to being involved in such rumors ahead of the trade deadline in less than three weeks.
“I don’t have Twitter,” Caissie said, “So I don’t check that stuff at all. I never really paid attention to that stuff, and I’m not going to start now. Playing GM isn’t a good idea because you never know what’s going to happen.”
Caissie is ignoring the trade rumors to the best of his ability; he isn’t letting it become a distraction either. “I’m just going to show up at the ballpark every day with a smile on my face and just try to be the best I can be.”

Although Caissie is ignoring the trade rumors, with the deadline approaching and the Cubs expected to be among the most aggressive buyers, Caissie will likely be involved in rumors for the next few weeks.

Jed Hoyer and the Cubs are looking to land a new starter, and potentially help at third base and in the bullpen. They might even land a second starter if the right players become available.
The Cubs are ready to commit to this team and might need to part with their top prospect to land the player(s) they need to improve the team.
With a strong offense and bullpen, the starting rotation is the with a strong offense and bullpen largest hole on the roster. Justin Steele is out for the year, Javier Assad has been out for the whole season, and Jameson Taillon is out for a while.

Adding a starter is a massive priority for the Cubs, and with plenty of other teams looking to improve their rotation, the Cubs may need to use Caissie to land the top starters on the market.
Amid such rumors, Caissie is ignoring the buzz and focusing on being the best player he can be every day when he walks onto the field. Whether he’s moved or not, Caissie is trying to, as he says, “be the best I can be.”
