Star Southern Miss baseball second baseman Nick Monistere has been picked in the 2025 MLB Draft.

The Houston Astros picked Monistere in the fourth round of the draft on July 14. He is the No. 126 overall pick. He is the third Golden Eagle picked in the draft, joining pitcher JB Middleton and Jake Cook.

The Astros are getting a highly productive hitter. Monistere is a 6-foot, 192-pound infielder from Brandon. He batted .323 with 21 home runs for the Golden Eagles in 2025. He had 72 RBIs.

Monistere has played consistently in his three seasons for the Golden Eagles. He burst onto the scene as a freshman and hit .320 in 37 starts. He played in 62 games as a sophomore and batted .247.

Monistere was a first-team All-Sun Belt selection and Sun Belt All-Tournament team selection in 2025. He was one of three Golden Eagles to start all 63 games.
