West Virginia University baseball junior catcher Logan Sauve was drafted No. 200th overall in the seventh round to the Athletics in the 2025 MLB Draft on Monday.
In three seasons, Sauve was consistently in the Mountaineer lineup and served as the primary catcher during his sophomore and junior seasons. He earned All-Big 12 First Team in 2025 and Honorable Mention in 2023.
In 151 games, he held a career .284 batting average on 151 hits, driving in 97 runs and crushing 20 home runs.
In 2025, he saw a career high 58 hits, 36 RBIs and 12 doubles. He was third on the team with eight home runs.
Sauve’s defense helped his draft stock as he steadily improved each season. He threw out a career-high 11 runners in 2025 and caught nine runners in 2024.
The last Mountaineer catcher to be selected in the MLB Draft was Ivan Gonzalez in 2019. He was drafted No. 230 overall in the eighth round by the Chicago White Sox.
