The Madison native was taken in the ninth round with the 259th pick.
The infielder had an impressive senior season at Georgia and was a First Team All-SEC selection after batting .319 with 19 home runs and 63 runs batted in.
Alford started his career at Mississippi State, playing two seasons there before transferring Georgia.
The Rocket City Trash Pandas are the Angels’ Double-A affiliate and there’s a chance that Alford is playing in his hometown shortly.
