BAYBORO, N.C. — The Pamlico Hurricanes baseball team has had a season full of challenges and triumphs. After starting the year without a field due to construction of a new school on their former ballpark, the Hurricanes began with an 0-5 record. However, they turned their season around by winning 12 of their final 18 games, advancing to the second round of the playoffs.

In a game played Saturday afternoon against the 25th-seeded Roxboro Community, Pamlico dominated at the plate. Cam Daniels hit a shallow shot into center field, scoring two runs and putting the Hurricanes up 4-0 after two innings. Ayden Broughton added another score with a hit through the hole into left field, and Addison Alcock executed a perfect bunt to slide home safely. The Hurricanes ultimately defeated the Bulldogs 11-1, securing their place in the third round.

Meanwhile, construction on the new school in Bayboro is progressing well, with the main frame coming together nicely. A crew was seen working on the site over the weekend.
