PADUCAH, KY — Paducah Tilghman alum and Louisville pitcher Justin West was drafted by the New York Yankees during the 2025 MLB Draft on Monday afternoon.

West was taken by the Yankees with the 18th round with the 554th overall pick in this years draft.

During his junior season in Louisville, West saw his role with the Cardinals increase out of the bullpen. He finished the season with 25 appearances with 37 innings pitched. West held a 5.59 ERA with 52 strikeouts on the season.

His most successful run came during Louisville’s run in the postseason to the College World Series. West played in nine postseason games allowing just 5 earned runs.

West is the first former Paducah Tilghman player to be drafted since Jackson Fristoe was selected by the Yankees during the 2022 MLB Draft.
