Williamsport Crosscutter Cody Delvecchio was one of six players from the Crosscutters selected in this year’s 2025 MLB Draft.
The Williamsport Crosscutters had six players selected in the 2025 MLB Draft this year. The draft consisted of 20 rounds with 615 players chosen July 13-14 in Atlanta, the site of the 2025 MLB All-Star Game.
The six Crosscutters drafted were:
• First baseman Riley Nelson (2024), fifth round by the Cleveland Guardians
• Catcher Boston Scott, sixth round by the Washington Nationals
• Right-handed pitcher Cody Delvecchio, 12th round by the San Francisco Giants
• Right-handed pitcher Merit Jones, 14th round by the Minnesota Twins
• Right-handed pitcher Denton Biller, 16th round by the Baltimore Orioles
• Right-handed pitcher Connor Knox, 18th round by the Chicago Cubs
Overall, the MLB Draft League saw 44 players that appeared in the league in 2022, 2024 and 2025 seasons selected by the draft. Frederick had the most selections with 10, followed by Trenton and Mahoning Valley with nine, Williamsport with six and both State College and West Virginia with five.
For Williamsport, this year’s six selections brings the total number of Crosscutters selected in the MLB Draft to 39 through five seasons in the MLB Draft League. In addition, the Crosscutters still hold the distinction of having hosted the highest drafted player selection from the league as Sabin Ceballos was taken in the third round in 2023 with the 94th pick.
A total of 227 players that appeared in the MLB Draft League have now gone on to be drafted in the five seasons the league has been in existance.
The second half of the MLB Draft League begins on Wednesday as the Crosscutters host Trenton at Bowman Field for a home series. Williamsport closed the first half of the season with an 11-game losing skid.
