After his first year at Penn State, center fielder Paxton Kling has received the draft call to the MLB.

Kling was drafted in the seventh round by the Texas Rangers in the 2025 MLB Draft.

He is the first Penn State draft pick since 2023, when shortstop Jay Harry and pitcher Daniel Ouderkirk were selected.

The center fielder made his way to Happy Valley after two seasons with LSU.

Kling’s five-tool ability in the blue and white raised some eyes while showcasing his leadership for the team.

Not only was Kling getting national attention early in the season, but the consistency throughout the season put him into the Penn State baseball history books.

The junior outfielder ranked sixth in total bases with 134 while holding a tie for seventh with 13 home runs in a single season.

Kling has the choice to join the Rangers or return to Penn State for his senior season with the Nittany Lions, with a chance to raise his draft stock for the 2026 MLB Draft.
