ST. MARTIN, Miss. (WLOX) – A former St. Martin Yellow Jacket heard his name called on Day 2 of the 2025 MLB Draft.
University of Southern Mississippi RHP Landen Payne was drafted in the 18th round with the 526th pick by the Chicago White Sox.
During the 2025 season, Payne appeared in 20 games, all in relief, with a 2-1 record and a 2.76 ERA. He had 47 strikeouts over 32.2 innings.
In 2023, he appeared in 13 games for Pearl River Community College, striking out 37 batters over 25 innings, helping lead the Wildcats to their first NJCAA DII National Championship.
During his time with the Yellow Jackets, he posted a 2.18 ERA over three seasons, striking out 102 batters over 88.2 innings.
