The Georgia native didn’t play baseball at Coastal Carolina in 2022, where he began his football career, but began playing both sports when he transferred to South Florida in 2023.
Archie played sparingly on the football field in 2023, attempting only 15 passes in seven games at quarterback. The following spring, he struggled on the mound with an 8.15 ERA in 17.2 innings.
But that changed dramatically in both sports over the last year for Archie.
First, Archie played 12 games as South Florida’s quarterback in 2024, completing 59 percent of his passes for 1,914 yards and nine touchdowns. He threw 10 interceptions and rushed for 129 yards on the ground.
When the spring of 2025 rolled around, Archie was dominant at times, recording a 3.25 ERA and 36 strikeouts in 15 games for the USF baseball team. Archie started three games in 2025, though many of his college appearances came out of the bullpen.
Archie has college eligibility remaining, so it remains to be seen if he will begin his professional career with the Reds. He is entering his senior season with the Bulls and could choose not to sign with the Reds to continue playing one, or both, sports at the college level.
