PASCAGOULA, Miss. (WLOX) – On Monday, a former Resurrection standout heard his name called during the 19th round of the 2025 MLB Draft.
Jacksonville State RHP Joe Scarborough was taken in the 19th round with the 583rd pick of the draft by the New York Mets.
Scarborough joined Jacksonville State after two seasons with East Mississippi Community College. He made 19 appearances out of the bullpen for the Gamecocks with 14 strikeouts in 18.1 innings. He would eventually take over the role as the team’s closer, collecting a pair of saves and posted four wins as a junior.
During his time at Resurrection, Perfect Game listed him as the number five catching prospect in the state and the number 41 prospect in the state for the 2022 class.
