The Toronto Blue Jays have made it quite clear that they do not plan on bringing back shortstop Bo Bichette at this point, especially after the MLB draft a couple days ago.
Blue Jays seem to be done with Bo Bichette after the MLB draft
The Blue Jays have been trying to figure out what to do with Bichette all season long but as the All-Star break just hit and there is still no details on a contract negotiation having started, it looks like Bichette will likely enter free agency.
While there is no guarantee that the Blue Jays are done with Bichette until he signs elsewhere, drafting Parker after they already have Arjun Nimmala in their system as well seems like the chances of bringing him back are slim.
In the first round on Sunday night, the Blue Jays picked shortstop Jojo Parker.
Could that mean Bo Bichette’s future is outside of Toronto?
That’s no sure thing, but Bichette has yet to sign an extension that will likely stretch into nine figures. -Heyen
There has also been a lot of reports that Parker might end up becoming a third baseman due to his skillset but that does not change the fact that they still have Nimmala and have yet to re-sign Bichette.
There’s also some thought that Parker, at 6-foot-5, might end up at third base.
But maybe, just maybe, the Blue Jays are planning for a future beyond Bichette. It’s at least interesting to think about. -Heyen
It should be interesting to see how all of this Bichette stuff plays out but unless they end up winning the World Series and Bichette ends up being a big part of it, they will likely let him sign elsewhere in free agency.
