One of the best D-II pitchers will play for LSU baseball. Dax Dathe announced on social media Monday that he will join the Tigers.

Per the post, Dathe was granted a year of D-I eligibility after spending the last two seasons at Angelo State in San Antonio, TX. He also spent a season apiece at Grayson College, Texas Tech, and Houston. LSU will be his fifth school.

The Round Rock, TX native will enter his sixth year of college baseball. He led the Lone Star conference with 98 strikeouts and ranked second with a 2.99 ERA in 2025. Through two seasons with the Rams, he amassed 33 appearances, including 26 starts, and 157.2 innings.

Dathe brings a veteran presence to an LSU pitching staff in search of its next stars. With Kade Anderson, Chase Shores and Anthony Eyanson off to professional baseball, LSU will likely move Casan Evans and Zac Cowan into the rotation. That means LSU’s high-leverage bullpen spots are up for grabs.
