CUMBERLAND, Georgia (KMID/KPEJ) – The Miami Marlins selected former Midland College and Texas State pitcher Carson Laws in the 14th round of the MLB draft with the 408th pick.
Laws was with the Chaparrals from 2022-2024 for his freshman and sophomore years before transferring to Texas State. With Midland, Laws pitched 35 innings, striking out 57 batters. His total record over the two years was 6-1 with three saves in his 27 appearances.
In his junior season at Texas State, Laws made 23 appearances, logging a 4-1 record, with eight saves. The right-hander also had 52 strikeouts in 37.1 innings pitched with a 4.34 ERA.
