Lewisburg baseball star and Vanderbilt signee Talon Haley has been selected No. 349 overall by the Los Angeles Angels in the 12th round of the 2025 MLB Draft on July 14.
Haley was rated as MLB.com’s No. 91 prospect entering the draft. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound left-handed pitcher was named to the Clarion Ledger’s All-State first team, was a 2025 Dandy Dozen selection and won the MHSAA Class 7A Mr. Baseball award.
Haley has impressed scouts with his off-seeped pitches, including his curveball and slider. His ability to move downhill on the mound with a clean delivery to produce strikeouts could take him to the next level. Haley’s fastball during his senior season topped out at 97 mph and sits around 91-94.
Haley is the third Mississippi high school player to be selected in this year’s draft. Purvis’ JoJo Parker went No. 8 overall to the Toronto Blue Jays, and East Union’s Landon Harmon was picked by the Washington Nationals at No. 80 overall.
