{KXLG -Watertown, SD} Watertown Post 17 secured a 3-0 victory over Brookings Post 74 in game one of a doubleheader during Senior Night at Watertown Stadium. A combined shutout performance from pitchers Kaden Rylance and Carter Buisker highlighted the win.
Rylance was the dominant force on the mound, earning the win after pitching six and a third scoreless innings. He limited Brookings to just two hits while striking out an impressive 11 batters. Carter Buisker entered the game in the seventh inning to close it out, recording the final two outs and preserving the shutout.
Despite not collecting any hits in the contest, the Arrows managed to plate three runs. Hayden Ries and Jonathan Lake each contributed with RBIs to drive in the runs.
Following the opening game, Watertown Post 17 honored its eight graduating seniors: Hayden Ries, Mitch Olson, Treyton Himmerich, Max Dylla, Talan Jurgens, Kaden Rylance, Nash Berg, and Nathan Briggs. Unfortunately, heavy rain then forced the postponement of the second game of the series.
Watertown’s record now stands at 30-25 overall and 19-13 in league play. Â After today’s rain postponed game two of the series between Watertown and Brookings, the squads will try to make up the game at 5 p.m. on Wednesday. Â The Arrows lead the series 1-0 after a 3-0 victory Tuesday night. The game will be broadcast on Post 17 TV.Â
