O’NEILL – Luke Guenther collected three hits in five at bats as the West Point Jr. Bombers defeated Wayne Rolling Hills Supply 7-5 in the Class B Area Five District Championship in O’Neill.

Guenther singled in the first, fourth and seventh innings as West Point punched their ticket to the Class B state legion baseball tournament beginning this Saturday in Gering. Wayne Rolling Hills Supply ends their season with a 17-6 record.

Wayne Rolling Hills Supply got on the board first in the bottom of the first after Jaxson Kneifl singled down the right field line and Chase Sturm grounded into a fielder’s choice, each scoring a run.

A ground out by Sturm extended the Wayne Rolling Hills Supply lead to 3-1 in the bottom of the third inning.

West Point Jr. Bombers flipped the game on its head in the top of the fourth, scoring five runs on five hits to take a 6-3 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a fielder’s choice by Chase Brester that drove in two runs.

Wayne Rolling Hills Supply would get one of those runs back in the bottom of the inning on Brodey Munter RBI groundout before West Point responded with a run when Easton Harstick scored on an error in the top of the fifth.

Wayne Rolling Hills Supply would tack on one more run in the bottom of the sixth when Munter singled to right, scoring Blade Nelson in the process.

Hudson Bramlet earned the win for West Point after the starter allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits with three walks and three strikeouts in four innings worked.

Spencer Moormeier took the loss for Wayne Rolling Hills supply, surrendering seven runs (two earned) on seven hits with three walks and two strikeouts in 4.1 innings.

Brester led West Point with two runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup, while Mason Toelle collected two walks from the plate.

Parker Patefield led Wayne Rolling Hills Supply with tow hits in four at bats while Munter and Sturm each drove in two runs.
