MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee Brewers have their best record in team history at the All-Star Break. That success has been, in-part, to the young core on the team stepping up.

The Brewers had one of Major League Baseball’s youngest rosters heading into the 2025 season, after deciding not to pay established veterans such as Willy Adames and Devin Williams this past offseason.

They instead trusted their young guys to take steps in their personal development. This includes players such as relief pitcher DL Hall in his second season with the Brew Crew.

“That fire you know, it stays in the younger guys a little bit easier because you know everything’s fresh. I’m still new to some of these guys so they’re hungry and everybody wants to prove themselves,” Hall said.

At the start of the season, the Brewers made a trade for 24-year-old starting pitcher Quinn Priester. He said this team does whatever it takes to win and having veteran guys on the team to lean on is incredibly valuable.

“When those guys play hard, it kind of gives… all of us young guys even more reason to play harder,” said Priester. “It’s awesome to have them as leaders in this clubhouse keeping us going.”

Veteran outfielder Christian Yelich is in his 13th season in the big leagues. He said the young guys have done a great job on their own, but he is there to talk to them when they need it. He feels the vibes on the team are good and is excited to see what this season has in store.

“We’ve got some good young players,” said Yelich. “Our team’s going to need good young players and they’ve done a good job just settling in and a lot of them got experience now and it’s kind of paying off for us.”

Brewers 25-year-old second baseman Brice Turang said he has embraced his role and focused on doing his job. He said the fact everyone on the team has the same goal has contributed to their success.

“Everything’s just about winning; that’s what you want,” said Turang. “You want to win here… We’ve got a good group of guys who are all on board with winning; winning is the most important thing.”

The Brewers head out west for a six-game road trip to start the second half of the season starting in Los Angeles on Friday. They open with the NL-leading Dodgers, followed by the Seattle Mariners.
